I am currently short-listed for a NHS commission for a 9m long wall piece for UCLH Breast Clinic and MRI Unit Services at the new Bedford Passage Development. This commission which I titled " A Way Through" aims to bring clam contemplation and allow space for feelings whilst being a wayfinder in an underground maze leading to a new treatment centre. Facing my own emotions with regards to illness and mortality was a difficult starting point, but it lead to a relaxed and joyful tactile art work that would allow a distracting escape without being jarring or over-prescriptive. During the creation of this project I worked for 6 weeks as a volunteer teaching pottery to a selected group of NHS staff. It was incredibly rewarding and humbling and the conversations and relationships that developed fed directly into my work.
