CONE 6 CERAMICS

6 WEEK INTENSIVE THROWING COURSE

Throwing on the wheel is a wonderfully addictive, therapeutic - and frustrating! - skill to master. This intensive course in a small class will allow you to pick up skills in just a few weeks that would usually take months.

The focus is on practising correct technique to help you learn fast & effectively. Each person learns according to their interests, so it's suitable for complete beginners starting from scratch as well as more experienced potters looking to improve or broaden their skills. As well as spending time throwing, you'll also cover other essential skills such as wedging, turning and reclaim (preparing the clay; trimming new shapes into existing pieces and recycling your own clay to use again).

This course is held in a fully-equipped working pottery near Holland Park with a professional tutor with 15 years experience. The first one and a half hours is spent on intensive work with demonstrations and coaching, after which you have another hour to chill and practice what you've learned.

With only four places available, students get plenty of time from their tutor, who can either guide them from scratch or work through individual interests. All of the tools and materials you need will be provided and, while the emphasis is on practice, there will be opportunities towards the end of the course to have a small number of pieces glazed and fired at the studio.

THINGS TO REMEMBER
All tools, clay and other resources you need will be here at the studio. You'll also find lockers, room to change, street parking and refreshments available.
You'll find it best to keep your nails well trimmed for throwing and to wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit grubby.
